Data centres
Sustainable data centres and digital infrastructure
Working with Digital Reef's in-house design, construction and delivery team, we work on financing across the data centre life cycle, including:
- Permitted land and grid power secured.
- Enhanced powered land with utilities, access roads, civils, drainage and ecology.
- Powered shells built and delivered to the off-taker's agreed specification.
- Fully fitted and commissioned, delivered turnkey for operating partners.

3.8 GW
of Digital Reef data centre projects being progressed and contracted, across the United Kingdom, Spain and South Africa.
Figures from Digital Reef, October 2026. Digital Reef is a sister company of Origin Assets.
Real estate
Sustainable, income-producing real estate
We look at select real estate projects that meet both our sustainability criteria and our investment requirements. We prefer assets with scarcity value that can support a resilient income.
- Smart cities
- Living
- Hotels
- Resorts
- Sports and entertainment
- What it is
- Projects in sectors including smart cities, living, hotels, resorts, sports and entertainment.
- Why it needs financing
- Projects carry planning risk and need development funding before they become income-producing assets.
- What we do
- We look at real estate projects that meet our investment criteria, with tailored solutions.
Clean energy
Generation, storage and advanced fuels
Energy generation, storage and advanced fuels for grid, behind-the-grid and microgrid solutions to power industry and communities.
- Renewables: solar, wind and hydropower
- Solar and battery storage
- Grids: grid, behind-the-grid and microgrid infrastructure
- Synthetic fuels for automotive, aviation and maritime
- Nuclear: radioisotope power systems and small modular reactors
- Why it needs financing
- Capital intensive, with long construction periods, grid connections and often new technology, all before the first unit of power is sold.
- How it connects
- Data centres, Industry 5.0 and communities take the power in circular-economy solutions, such as nearby farms and homes heated by waste heat, with microgrids providing resilience and back-up at peak demand when the grid is under strain.
- What we look at
- Low-carbon power solutions supported by offtake agreements.
Food
Vertical farming and food security
Controlled-environment and vertical farms, and the facilities that process, pack and store the food they grow.
- Vertical farms
- Greenhouses
- Processing and packing
- Cold storage
- Why it needs financing
- Buildings, lighting, power and water systems must be in place before the first harvest is sold.
- How it connects
- Farms on a campus can use waste heat and treated water from data centres, and they shorten the supply chain to the towns around them.
- What we look at
- Food production that shares power, heat, water and land with a cluster.
Smart ports
Ports and logistics
Ports and the logistics around them: quays, terminals, storage, rail and road links, and the digital systems that manage berths, cargo and energy use.
- Quays and terminals
- Storage and warehousing
- Rail and road links
- Shore power and clean fuel bunkering
- Why it needs financing
- Ports are long-life assets. Quays, storage and grid connections need capital years before throughput builds.
- How it connects
- Ports bring in the materials, fuel and equipment the other sectors use, and ship out what they make.
- What we look at
- Port and logistics projects linked to a cluster, including shore power and clean fuels.
Resources
Land, water and critical minerals
The land, water and critical minerals a sustainable economy needs, and the supply chains that move them.
- Water supply and treatment
- Materials recovery and recycling
- Rare earths and critical minerals
- Processing plant, equipment and facilities for critical materials
- Land and nature-based assets
- Why it needs financing
- Infrastructure such as treatment plants, processing facilities, sustainable mining and land restoration carries high upfront costs and long payback periods.
- How it connects
- The financial underwrite for every sector is underpinned by asset- and revenue-backed commodities such as water, ITMOs, crops and minerals. Supported by an offtake, these give projects a more secure revenue base.
- What we look at
- Sustainable and critical infrastructure and assets that are essential to delivering the Earth & Space economies.
Industry 5.0
Advanced manufacturing, automation, deep tech and defence
Real estate and infrastructure for logistics and distribution, advanced manufacturing, automation and robotics, deep tech and defence, powered by clean energy and microgrids.
- Why it needs financing
- Plant, buildings and power connections are capital intensive, with a long lead-in and construction programme before occupation and before investment value stabilises.
- What we do
- We look at Industry 5.0 projects, often located in a digitally enabled cluster anchored by a data centre.
Tech infrastructure
Smart city, space launch and space infrastructure
The networks and systems that connect a cluster on Earth and beyond: fibre and edge computing, smart city systems for energy, water and transport, ground stations, space launch and in-orbit infrastructure.
- Fibre and edge computing
- Smart city systems
- Ground stations
- Space launch and in-orbit infrastructure
- Why it needs financing
- Networks and launch sites are built years ahead of the demand they serve.
- How it connects
- Tech infrastructure links the Earth economy to the Space economy, from city-scale systems to satellites and launch.
- What we look at
- Projects linked to a cluster, on the ground or in orbit.
